Alignment

The goal of the alignment phase is to determine:  What problem are we trying to solve?

Usually research will be geared toward generating new ideas or evaluating concepts. See more about different research methods here.

The key activity in the alignment phase is to develop a team charter. This means working with the project team to determine the problem to be solved or articulated, project goals, scope of work, assumptions, quality indicator, team roles & responsibilities, timeline, and resources needed.
