Week One Recap- Keeping resolutions

So it has been a whole week with no sugar, fake sugar, or caffeine. If you read about detoxing from sugar you will probably read that the first three days are the worst…if you can get through the first three days you will be fiiiiiiiine. Whoever wrote that is on CRACK. This sucks. I wake up every morning with a raging headache after dreaming all night about accidentally slamming a rockstar or eating a whole pie (I don’t even like pie) then remembering oops I am not eating sugar, or fake, sugar, or caffeine. Once the day gets started I am finding it hard to not want to punch someone in the face.

Okay, maybe I am being a little bit of a drama queen. It hasn’t been THAT bad. I have found some pretty good work-arounds. I am eating so much more fruit than I usually do. I might need to join a twelve step program for my current Clementine addiction, but hey those little guys are getting me through. I have also rediscovered my love of water and herbal tea. When those aren’t enough I have taken to making my “fancy drinks” – one part water, one part naturally flavored tonic, and whole lot of garnish like muddled frozen cherries or lime and cilantro. I am to the point where I can make it through a whole day without taking a nap, and even LARA bars kind of taste okay if you imagine they are something more exciting than pressed dates.

Next week I have another week of three city travel which will be fairly challenging. Luna bars and Redbull usually gets me through trips. Luckily these trips aren’t as jam packed as usual and I am flying at night instead of at 5am every day.

It has also been a whole week since my last blog. So what have I been doing with all of the free time I have now that I am not obsessed with blogging?  Did you know that there are 456 episodes of Law and Order… I haven’t gotten to a single one of them.  I have been pretty much working around the clock. I have carved out more time for cooking fresh and yummy food, and today I actually paid attention to an entire football game. I am taking full credit for the Giant’s win…I wore my Giant’s tee shirt and everything.

I wasted some time trying to find the end of the internet and found these awesome videos that made me want to quit my job and book a round the world trip for Allison & I and all of the siblings. These guys traveled to 11 countries in 44 days to make 3 differnt movies:

LEARN from Rick Mereki on Vimeo.

MOVE from Rick Mereki on Vimeo.

EAT from Rick Mereki on Vimeo.

If you had 44 days to visit 11 countries which ones would you hit?

Here is my dream trip (as of today…subject to change at any moment) New York - Galapagos - Sao Paulo – Ushuaia (cruise to Antarctica) - Bora Bora - Ayers Rock - Bali - Singapore - Cape Town - Nairobi - Dubai - Stockholm - New York. I think to actually accomplish this list in 44 days I would be in the air more than I am on the ground, but it still sounds AMAZING.
